Oradeo Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Deputy Head of Engineering on behalf of one of our clients who is a market leading specialist construction company. The company are specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of precast concrete to the UK & Irish construction markets. The company is headquartered in the Dublin area, with regional offices in the UK.

Oradeo’s client has an award winning reputation who collaborate with some of the most prestigious Clients, Architects, Consultant Engineers, Professional practices and Contractors in Ireland and the UK. As Deputy Head of Engineering, you will play an integral part of the Senior Management team.

Head of Engineering Responsibilities:

The Deputy Head of Engineering will manage the design team (Engineers and the drawing office) both internally and externally to ensure all aspects of the design process are delivered on time and within the project parameters.
Review and monitor the Clients design proposals and lead the design process for the company from conceptual and final design approval stage.
Review and manage all construction/design/engineering related queries on existing projects.
Provide engineering advice and technical both internally and externally as required.
Resource management – manage the engineering and drawing office resources to ensure there is efficient workflow to the project requirements and that the manufacturing process has sufficient design information to ensure lean manufacturing principle are maintained.
Assist the business development and estimating departments with bid management, by preparing innovative and costs effective engineering concepts and proposals.
Liaise with procurement department / manufacturing functions to ensure that necessary materials and fixings are procured on time and within budgets.
Responsible for leading and developing technical and engineering support in relation to current and new products/systems development.
Professional development of the engineering team through coaching, training and mentoring of the existing team

Necessary Requirements:

Suitable candidates will be degree qualified in Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 15 years post graduate experience, of which a minimum of 8 years design experience is essential.
Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineering professional.
Experience in the structural engineering design of precast concrete, would be highly desirable
AutoCAD and Revit experience in 2D and 3D is essential. A good understanding of BIM is also essential.
Demonstrable strategic outlook, commercial awareness and previous significant client interfacing experience is essential
A confident presenter, good interpersonal and communication skills.
Energetic and ambitious for personal growth and development.
A high level of organisational ability.
