Oradeo Recruitment are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a leading contractor in Dublin. This role involves managing and coordinating the full design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring all design information is delivered on time, fully compliant, and aligned with project objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-quality developments while playing a pivotal role in mitigating design risk and driving successful project delivery.
Design Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the design process across all project phases, ensuring timely delivery of accurate and approved design information
- Review designs for buildability, compliance, coordination, and potential risks prior to construction
- Ensure all drawings and design documentation are issued and controlled in line with the project programme
- Maintain detailed design records, trackers, and document control systems throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Act as the main point of contact for clients on all design-related matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment
- Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure design integration and clarity
- Identify and manage design-related risks, including coordination clashes and programme impacts
- Ensure all design activities comply with health, safety, and welfare regulations, including construction safety legislation
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, industry standards, and sustainability requirements
- Lead design team meetings, workshops, and coordination sessions, providing clear direction and accountability
- Prepare and present design reports, progress updates, and technical information to clients and senior management
- Support and mentor junior team members where required
Necessary Skills & Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Significant experience in a Design Manager or Senior Design role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction design processes, project delivery, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple design interfaces and deadlines effectively
- Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, health & safety legislation, and sustainable construction practices
- Detail-oriented with a structured and methodical approach to problem solving
- Confident in leading meetings and presenting to clients and senior stakeholders
