Purchasing Manager | Outstanding opportunity for ambitious, career orientated Purchasing Manager/Procurement Specialist to join an international market leading Construction Company based in the Leinster area leading on a number of large projects in-excess of €20 million

 

As a Purchasing Manager / Procurement Specialist you will be able to build your career by supporting the Senior Management in the delivery of ‘leading edge’ construction & engineering projects and the project team from the earliest stages of the project. The Procurement Specialist will assemble tender packages and evaluate submissions from a commercial/ technical / programme perspective through to procurement closure with a view to generating the greatest value for the company. To work with a vibrant, agile and multi-functional team in delivering projects to quality, on time and to budget.

 

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Managing Director/Senior Management, the Purchasing Manager / Procurement Specialist will:

  • Provide commercial support to project teams on project commencement
  • Attend project meetings and obtain required information and clarifications to close project procurement
  • Assemble procurement packages for tender in conjunction with project team
  • Ensure technical submittals & approvals to facilitate project procurement are in place
  • Lead the negotiation process, driving closure on package agreements to include T’s & C’s
  • Liaise with the project teams to improve demand planning
  • Assist and implement category management process improvements
  • Drive improvements in supplier price management and performance
  • Assist in implementation in lean process procurement methods
  • Work as an integral part of the procurement team
  • Assist in implementing group procurement strategy
  • Ensure all practices and documentation in place comply with QA processes

 

Necessary Requirements

 

  • Degree Qualification
  • 5+ Years’ Experience working in the Engineering, commercial development, civil, residential or refurb/fit out industries
  • Sound engineering knowledge and experience to enable effective appreciation of the requirements and the environment in which the solution will be required to operate
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to utilise the MS suite of products and display a keen ability to utilise new software quickly
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Constructive questioning: good at identifying all the necessary criteria
  • Effective listener: good at listening to requirements or problems without bias
  • Team Player: Ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to think beyond the boundaries
  • Good at building rapport with the project team in order to achieve a closer working relationship and openness
  • Able to develop innovative and practical design solutions to technical problems when required
  • Meticulous in approach to quality
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines, both internal and external
  • A keen and avid seeker of knowledge
  • Positive in attitude towards the customer & colleagues.
