Oradeo Recruitment is currently seeking applications from experienced Quantity Surveyors to join one of our leading clients on major construction and engineering projects in Co. Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS to work on landmark developments within a fast-paced and innovative project environment.

Purpose of the Role

To take full ownership of quantity surveying duties on assigned projects, ensuring all commercial and contractual obligations are met while maximising project value.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day commercial and contractual activities
  • Undertake contract administration, including change management and register control (e.g., Change Order Log)
  • Negotiate and secure best value in the procurement and placement of subcontract orders
  • Assist in the preparation and management of budgets, cost plans and feasibility studies
  • Validate and approve subcontractors’ interim applications and final accounts, ensuring compliance with the Construction Contracts Act
  • Lead pre-appointment subcontractor meetings to ensure scope alignment and reduce contractual risk
  • Prepare accurate monthly Cost Value Reports for review with senior stakeholders
  • Maximise cash flow through timely submission of monthly valuations with full supporting documentation
  • Prepare, negotiate and submit final accounts, including claims for loss and expense, delays, disruption and extensions of time
  • Maintain strong working relationships with design teams and client representatives
  • Ensure adherence to all commercial processes and procedures

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics or equivalent qualification (SCSI/RICS recognised)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a quantity surveying role
  • Strong understanding of common construction contracts (NEC, RIAI, FIDIC, etc.)
  • Ability to evaluate documentation, identify gaps and recognise commercial opportunities
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, methodologies and systems
  • Strong commercial awareness and market insight
  • Excellent numeracy, report writing and analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-management abilities
  • Highly process-driven with exceptional attention to detail
