Oradeo Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civils to join a leading main contractor delivering large-scale civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the Dublin region. This role is responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring commercial objectives are achieved while maintaining strong contractual control and project profitability.
The successful candidate will work closely with project delivery, procurement, and commercial teams, providing commercial leadership across all stages of the project lifecycle. This position offers excellent career progression within an established contractor delivering a strong pipeline of complex infrastructure works.
Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from tender award through to final account
- Prepare interim valuations, applications for payment, final accounts, and commercial reporting
- Monitor project costs, cash flow, forecasts, and financial performance throughout project delivery
- Review contract documentation, identifying commercial risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations
- Prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts with clients and project stakeholders
- Work closely with Procurement teams on subcontractor tendering, negotiations, and contract awards
- Prepare quantity take-offs and provide commercial support to estimating, planning, and project delivery teams
- Manage variations, contractual claims, change control, and extension of time submissions
- Record and manage contractual delays and associated commercial impacts
- Provide commercial advice and support to Project Managers and site teams
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors, and junior commercial staff
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and industry best practice
Necessary Skills & Requirements:
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- 10+ years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, cost planning, and commercial management
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a recognised professional body is highly desirable
- Excellent commercial awareness with strong financial and contractual management skills
- Experience managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Full EU Category B Driving Licence
