Oradeo Recruitment are seeking a Senior Site Engineer to join a leading Tier One main contractor delivering complex building and civil engineering projects across the Dublin region. This role is central to site delivery, acting as the technical link between design teams, project management, and site operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring construction is carried out in line with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
This position offers strong exposure to major projects and provides a clear pathway into senior engineering and project management positions for high-performing individuals.
Senior Site Engineer Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day site engineering and construction activities, ensuring works are aligned with drawings, specifications, programme, and project requirements
- Act as the technical lead on site, providing guidance to junior engineers and site teams
- Liaise closely with Project Managers, design teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives
- Review design information, interpret drawings, and communicate technical requirements to site teams
- Manage setting out activities using GPS, robotic total stations, and surveying equipment
- Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures including inspections, pre- and post-pour checks, ITPs, RFIs, and snagging
- Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health & safety regulations and company EHS standards
- Conduct risk assessments, site inductions, toolbox talks, and promote a strong safety culture across site operations
- Coordinate subcontractors, plant, labour, and materials to ensure efficient workflow and programme adherence
- Monitor project progress and produce accurate daily/weekly reports and site records
- Support planning and sequencing of works in collaboration with the project management team
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site, escalating design queries where required
- Ensure compliance with Irish building regulations, specifications, and client requirements
- Attend site meetings and contribute to coordination, planning, and problem-solving discussions
- Maintain accurate site documentation, including diaries, records, and progress reporting
Necessary Skills & Requirements:
- Third level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience with a main contractor in a similar site engineering role
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building regulations, and site operations
- Proven experience in setting out and use of GPS, robotic total stations, and levelling equipment
- Strong QA/QC experience including inspections, documentation, and technical verification
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Proficient IT skills including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (MS Project beneficial)
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Experience working on building or civil engineering projects (including groundworks, utilities, drainage, and structural works desirable)
