irishtimes.com<\/em>\u00a0–\u00a029\/07\/2016<\/em> Britain is to conduct a new review into a project led by French energy company EDF to build two new nuclear reactors, which would be the country\u2019s first new nuclear plant in decades. EDF\u2019s board narrowly voted to proceed with the Hinkley Point C project on Thursday but in a surprise move, British prime minister Theresa May said the government wanted to give the project further consideration. \u201cThe UK needs a reliable and secure energy supply and the government believes that nuclear energy is an important part of the mix,\u201d business and energy secretary Greg Clark said in a statement shortly after EDF gave its go-ahead to the project.<\/p>\n
