Safety Officer job in London with Tier 1 Main Contractor Permanent

What: Health & Safety Officer with Top Main Contractor

Oradeo Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer to join a Top Main Contractor with significant annual turnover. The successful candidate will have 2+ years in a similar role, ideally with commercial and/or residential construction experience and will lead by example to promote a safe working environment.

As a Health & Safety Officer you will:

  • Supervise site activities to ensure health and safety remains a priority across building sites
  • Carry out site inductions and refresher courses
  • Liaise with site visitors on walk-through’s
  • Check equipment and tools and ensure proper safety signage is utilized
  • Perform site audits and implement new procedures
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend improvements
  • Prepare safety strategies and develop internal policy
  • Record incidents and accidents
  • Remain abreast new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Authority (HSA) legislation
  • Act as a company representative during outside Agency Audits/Inspections with regards to health and safety
  • Attend on-site meetings

Requirements:

  • Formal qualification in Health & Safety – 3rd level is preferred
  • 2+ years health and safety experience ideally with a main contractor
  • Previous experience in ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 accredited environments
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of safety regulations
