We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to join a large-scale data centre development in Sweden, working with a leading international contractor delivering hyperscale data centre projects across Europe.

Role Overview

The Health & Safety Manager will take full responsibility for managing and implementing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards on site. This is a site-based role, requiring a proactive leader to ensure full compliance with statutory legislation, company procedures and best-in-class safety practices throughout all stages of construction.

You will work closely with senior project management, subcontractors and site teams to drive a strong safety culture and ensure the project is delivered to the highest EHS standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure full compliance with the project Safety Management System
• Develop and implement construction stage Health & Safety plans
• Manage EHS reporting, performance metrics and data analysis
• Provide regular H&S updates and reports to senior management
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and statutory requirements
• Oversee the development and review of method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action and permits to work
• Ensure compliance with project execution plans and EHS strategies
• Promote and maintain best-in-class safety practices across site operations
• Oversee COSHH assessments and control of hazardous substances
• Ensure all safety interventions are completed, recorded and closed out
• Conduct regular site audits and inspections, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections and related documentation
• Take a proactive approach to environmental, health and safety risk management
• Ensure all subcontractors comply with project and company EHS policies and procedures
• Coordinate and manage site inductions, training and competency records
• Ensure appropriate PPE is available, maintained and used correctly
• Lead or support accident and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and communication to project leadership

Candidate Requirements

• Third-level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or related discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ experience managing EHS on large-scale construction projects
• Data centre project experience is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of current Environmental, Health & Safety legislation
• Ability to manage all EHS matters on a complex, live construction site
• Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills
• Proficient in IT systems and maintaining EHS documentation and databases
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with site teams
• Flexible approach to working patterns as project requirements demand
