Oradeo Recruitment are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join a leading construction contractor on major projects in Frankfurt, Germany. The successful candidate will oversee commercial operations, manage contractual obligations and lead a team of quantity surveying professionals to ensure effective cost control and successful commercial delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to take a leadership role within a growing international construction organisation.

 

Commercial Lead Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, interim and final valuations, applications for payment, and reconciliations of valuations and costs for contracts, subcontractors, specialists and suppliers.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to support the regular review of cash flow and contractual positions.
  • Work alongside the Procurement Manager to prepare and place subcontracts for works under their control, where required.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of contract documentation and identify any discrepancies, anomalies or potential commercial risks.
  • Prepare, submit and agree interim and final valuation dates with client representatives.
  • Complete necessary quantity take-offs in advance of requirements from the Estimating, Procurement and Planning departments.
  • Prepare contract final accounts for completed sections of works, including all relevant adjustments, and submit and agree these with client representatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractual delays and associated project information.
  • Lead, manage and mentor Contract Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors and Junior Surveyors, supporting their professional development and performance.
  • Monitor commercial performance and support effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Necessary Skills & Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ commercial experience, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Previous experience in construction or civil engineering projects, including pharmaceutical and Data Centre developments.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring commercial teams, including Contract Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors and Junior Surveyors.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership with the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI).
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, valuations, cost management and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
