Green light for EDF for Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has given EDF Energy the go ahead to construct the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant worth approximately £14bn. Hinkley Point C in Somerset, UK, will be the first nuclear power plant built since 1995. This power plant will generate more electricity than the Hinkley Point B nuclear station. The Hinkley Point C 3.2GW nuclear power plant will feature two EPR reactors, each having a capacity of 1.6GW, and will be capable of generating 7% of UK’s total electricity, equating to the power requirement for 5m homes. Read More
