We are recruiting a Health and Safety Manager to support Life Science projects in Limerick. This is an excellent opportunity to lead health, safety, and environmental standards across multiple sites, providing guidance, training, and strategic oversight.
Role Overview The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing a professional, competent, and knowledge-sharing safety culture across all sites. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in construction health and safety, and the ability to support project teams in compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate strong leadership in implementing health, safety, and environmental strategies across sites.
Assist the BU HSE Manager with consistent rollout of company strategy, SOPs, and guidance.
Conduct high-quality safety inspections at a frequency and level as coached by the BU HSE Manager.
Perform risk reviews and contribute to hazard identification and mitigation.
Attend sites following accidents or incidents and support or lead investigations.
Liaise with enforcement authorities during inspections or incident investigations.
Tailor management systems to meet bespoke client requirements with line manager approval.
Assist with tender and prequalification submissions, advising on HSE considerations and practical solutions.
Attend project startup meetings and other client or supply chain meetings as requested.
Implement and coach others on the management system effectively.
Deliver appropriate training and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage and develop trainees, apprentices, or junior safety staff.
Candidate Requirements
CMIOSH or Grad IOSH
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent)
NVQ Level 4 / EQF L5 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction industry
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Health and Safety professional
Awareness of lifting operations and construction site hazards
Proven ability to investigate root causes and drive improvement initiatives
Strong communication, leadership, and training skills
