In 2015 as a result of changing climates, the Dutch government implemented a flood prevention plan by increasing river volumes at 34 locations throughout the Netherlands. Ruimte voor de Waal, Nijmegen was one of these measures. The project involved moving the Waal dike in Lent and constructing an ancillary channel in the flood plains. This created an island in the Waal and a unique urban river park in the heart of Nijmegen.  The contractor i-Lent (Dura Vermeer, Infra BV & Ploegam BV) engaged Oradeo to provide skilled craftsmen and site supervision for the main concrete package, predominantly for the construction of the New Bridge and Quay Walls.

On February 6th 2017 it was announced that this project has won the Dutch Construction Award, A prestigious award founded in 1991 and presented every two years. The prize aims to promote quality in building projects within the Netherlands.

Oradeo management is delighted that the skilled craftsmanship of our workforce has been recognised for the award winning project they delivered on behalf of Dura Vermeer for the Nijmegen project
